Colour Changing Polish

Clicking about on ebay the other day to find some new gel colours and I came across some colour changing polish... Surely not I thought to myself so I read some reviews and it seemed perfectly legit. So my first port of call is to tell my sister about them, so we can discuss which of the colours we should try, the next thing I know I am at her front door collecting not 1 but 2 bottles from the postman. She has a bigger ebay problem than me (I am almost sure after trying these colours she has ordered some more)

SO Review time.

I painted these on my sisters nails first for 3 reasons
1. she bought the polish I thought it was only fair I manicure her nails first
2. she doesn't have acrylic nails on - I still do
3. even with out fake nails my hands are often in a constant state of icy cold so I was unsure how it would work on me!!

Painting on her hot hot hands was hard because the polish went almost clear when applied 3 coats and cures later I realised that this was just how it would look because her hands where warm from the lamps. To be honest I quite liked the creamy white that the hot pink polish gave.

I then made her run her hands under cold water when we where finished and like magic the colour changed. It was amazing to watch if you're as nerdy as I am. The black was super shiny and the pink super vibrant. although not chosen to go together they two complimented each other perfectly.

After letting them settle a minute or two the beds warmed up and gave the french look ebay promised. These polishes are not only super fun they are as shiny and hard wearing as I have come to expect from gels. The do change colour through out the day (especially if you hold a cup of tea or icy water and press your nails into your cup or glass to watch them change colour as I have been doing.)

Of course I wanted to try it on my nails after the success of my sisters, now there is a joke in my house that I am clinically dead but no one has pronounced it. So applying this polish on my icy cold hands was much easier because it went on coloured. not content I grabbed a black and pink polish and stamped a simple zebra print up my nails. (I was going out that night and I knew my hands would probably get hot hot hot in the club. After about half an hour warming my hands on a cuppa and in the sun they finally warmed up enough to change the polish colour.

I am super happy with this and cant wait to try more

Animal Stamps and New Polish

Yesterday I was in the supermarket getting some shopping with my mum and when I wandered past the Rimmel stand a purple polish just screamed at me to buy it(as they so often do!!), so in the trolley it went. Obviously as soon as I got home I had to try it and I have been itching to try some of my tip stamps and see how straight I could get them (so far I have failed miserably at getting them straight)

Not one to be content with a single colour or pattern I thought I would try stamping some of my newer Barry M Gelly Polishes as well (over at Brit Nails, Allie had suggested the Gelly polishes were great for stamping but I hadn't had a chance to try them yet!)

The result :
Well I like them

I stamped each of the colours over the white tips of my Acrylic nails so I apologize about the state of my cuticles , they are in a pretty sorry state

Royal baby and Tea Pots

Congratulations Kate and Wills =]

Yesterday over at Brit Nails there was a Review for Nailtopia Alice in Wonderland Nail Stickers. They where wonderful stickers and a fabulous manicure.

This coupled with the news of the royal baby has inspired me to do a thoroughly British Nail design involving teapots.

Lost

So, Since I have lost my camera charger and broke my phone my blog is off to a giant HALT!

Today I bring you, bad photography of a rather (imo) nice manicure.

This is a very Picture Heavy post as non of the pictures quite captured the manicure on their own.
I will also update , when it is NOT 3am the products used

This is only the 4th time I have done a full set of Acrylic nails on myself and I have to say I am happy with how the tips turned out, but the plain white tips were boring so i had to spice them up a bit  (didn't I?)

Anyway I thought    some   colour would be nice so i added some pink and blue swipes along the smile line and a white stamped flower. Not happy with just this i added a coat of fine glitter to give it some GLITZ!      Which was fine for about half an hour and my Gleaquins were staring at me from their box,soi added a pink one in the center of each flower.

The result:

First Acrylic and Ombre nail attempt

Holla!!!
Hope you enjoy my first nail post!
Last night I did an Acrylic nail - that's right singularrrr - and had a go at ombre nails (which I've never tried before. Next time I try the Acrylic nails I'll post some step by step to show you how I got on!

Acrylic

So last night I cracked out the newly purchased Acrylic nails set and had a go on on ring and pinkie fingers of my left hand- I still have uni work to do and didn't want my typing speed to be impeded too much and I'm not supposed to do my nails properly until I finish university, but the pack came in the post and I am a sucker for temptation.

I bought the beginner Acrylic set by Naio because I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos with Gemma Lambert and hers was the beginner video I followed the easiest. I cannot comment really on how good this set is as it is the first time I've used anything like this.

I had a go at both white tips and just a nail extension. The White tip was not as easy as just doing a full clear extension but all in all I didn't think it was too bad considering it was my first attempt

I then decided to see how easy it was to soak off my pinkie to see how easy it was. The result was VERY easy - but that was more likely down to my lack of proper nail prep before applying and not because they come off super easy.

Ombre Nails

I then decided to paint my nails so the single Acrylic I was leaving on wouldn't look too out of place with the rest of my nails(to see how long it would last/ how difficult it would be to have it and how uncomfortable it would be - I have in the past had acrylics done at the salon that were so thick they just felt like they were weighing my finger tips down).

I filed the Acrylic tip down so it wasn't drastically longer than my other fingernails
I painted my left hand all orange and then spotted my yellow so thought I would give gradient a go. So for this hand I painted the top half of the nail with my yellow and then sponged it. The result, I think was pretty good.

For the right hand I did the "google approved method" of painting the pale colour all over and sponging the darker colour over the top - whether it was because it was my dominant hand or my method was a bit better, I didn't like the effect on my left hand as much.
I can see why it would be necessary for paler colours that don't have such good coverage - but my yellow covered over the orange really well.

If you're reading this I hope you enjoyed the beginning of my nail journey
